2009 started innocently enough. Didn't quite blink an eye when the new year was born. Just another year. Just another night.

2009 Jan 18. The usual Pre-CNY Reunion dinner at my mum's place as my brother's family would be leaving for KL next Saturday. Only difference this year is that my aunts and uncle joined in as well. It was a pleasant and enjoyable gathering indeed. My brother and I intended to pay a visit to my grandmother who was in hospital the next day.

2009 Jan 19. Received a phone call from my mother around noon. My grandmother had just passed away. Reached the hospital and saw her at rest. It's saddening to know that she's gone but I think there's also gladness in knowing that her suffering is finally over. She truly looked at peace...

2009 Jan 23. 11am. My grandmother's body was finally cremated. 2.30pm. Collected the ashes. 4.00pm. Her ashes were finally placed next to my grandfather - who has been waiting 19 long years for her.

Life has changed, just a little. Some things are just not the same anymore. But yet, life moves on as well. Her memory remains and through her, I've learned even more to cherish my own parents and family... Our time on earth is truly short - when will we learn to make every moment count?
