Aranus Delight!
Posted at Wednesday, October 11, 2006
Been a busy few days indeed. First, Cheri's sister completed her wedding customary vows on Saturday. Then on Sunday, we went over to my ex-colleague's house-warming. His home looked great! And he didn't have to spend too much to get it fixed up either. He definitely got a good deal on his renovation.

And yesterday, we finally met up with Darren from Aranus. He totally blew our mind. First off, the floor plan that he showed us was in full colour with material references and the design was fabulous too. He remembered that we wanted a resort theme and he stuck to the concept fully. We could almost visualise it! He also showed us the lighting plan, the ceiling plan and even the tentative project schedule. That's a lot of details to go into for just a first meetup. He was thorough and detailed in his explanations of the design concepts and the materials to be used - again, his 15 years of experience in this field was evident. By the time we walked out the door, we had both made up our minds. No more hunting for any other IDs!

While his overall quotation wasn't cheaper than Gerard's, item for item, it was still a little cheaper. In addition, his past references were all glowing - we have utter confidence in the quality of his workmanship. Furthermore, we believed that, due to his seniority, he would be in a much better position to give us a good pricing on the final quotation. Of course, we did like Gerard's design and his attitude and service and we felt that in 10 years, Gerard may well turn out to be as experienced and popular as Darren. But for the present, we would do best to go with Darren.

We also went to the newly opened Vivocity yesterday. It was bigger than big. I think they should have more seats there - folks will probably get tired just walking from one end to the other! We watched World Trade Center at GV Gold Class. It was my first time splurging on a Gold Class ticket. Quite an experience I must say. Of course, the movie was great - the theme resonated well: Sometimes, we focus too much on the evil things happening around us. But truly, we ought to focus more on the good things that man are capable.

For now, we're both delighted and we're eagerly looking forward to the whole process of fixing up our dream home.
