It's good to be home! We just came back yesterday from a week-long business-cum-leisure trip to Thailand. Had a great time there - did minimal work and maximum relaxation and shopping. Not that I fancied shopping but we did manage to get some nice stuff for our new home. Let's see, we got some table placemats, coasters, chopsticks, decorative bowl, a small decorative table lamp and even a shoehorn. Not much but we're probably going to head back next year after our home is done up - by then, we'll know exactly what we're missing and what other items would perfectly complement our resort look.

Just learnt that a good friend of mine is finally back from Australia. Back for at least two years - I hope it's back for good though. Weihao, welcome home! :)

Got me thinking - I always thought that I would fancy an overseas work stint, maybe for two or three years to gain invaluable experience. I worked hard in the past and actively sought such a posting, believing that it would be a good boost for my career. Then this new job came along... And it seems my perspective has changed drastically since.

Maybe it's due to the fact that I'm finally settling down and preparing for marriage, but I just realised that family is truly one of the most important things in my life. Watching my newphew do his silly things every Sunday and watching him grow so much in such a short span of time - that just made me determined that when Cheri and I eventually have kids, I'll want to be there every single moment watching them grow up. Each and every moment is truly precious - Life is far too short and too many people have come and gone from my life. It's time for me to fully cherish the present. It's a gift afterall!

So I guess as big as the world out there is, home for me is still a small tiny dot in the big picture of things. And I'm happy with that. :)
